Overview

So, you’ve decided to integrate Phrasee’s awesome AI subject line optimisation tech with Emarsys…

Excellent choice!

Just follow the steps below, and setting up your Phrasee split test campaign using the Emarsys integration is easy as pie!

The Phrasee integration with Emarsys is primarily a tool that creates versions of an email campaign with the subject lines generated in Phrasee and gets the results of the campaign once the split tests have been completed. The rest of the email campaign setup and scheduling will all be done in the normal way from within Emarsys.

The workflow will be something like the following.

  1. Create a campaign in Emarsys and get the email template ready to the point of scheduling, just like you normally would.
  2. Login to Phrasee and create a campaign, select the campaign created in Emarsys and complete the Phrasee workflow to “Push to Emarsys”. This creates versions for split testing in the Emarsys Campaign.
  3. Go back to Emarsys and schedule all the versions to be tested plus the final send to go to the remainder of the audience. Phrasee will automatically get the results for the campaign.

We hope that you are, but there may be some minor changes you’d like to make.

Scheduling

Once you’ve switched back to Emarsys, you’ll see the versions of your email created by Phrasee. They look good, don’t they?  Now you can move to Step 3 – “Deliverability Advisor”.

TOC

Perform your normal checks in the Emarsys deliverability Advisor – because deliverability matters!

Time to send test emails

The time allotted for your split test sends should be determined by subtracting the number of hours you want the split test to run before determining the winning subject line to send to the remaining recipients from the time of day you are planning to launch your final send. Ie. Phrasee recommends 4 hours for split testing each campaign, so if your normal send time is 10:00 am then you should schedule the split tests to begin at 6:00 am.

The process for scheduling your split tests needs to be repeated for each version of your email. Start by selecting the “Send to” option and entering the percentages recommended by Phrasee in the campaign setup or in the final subject line stage. (The ones you made note of, remember?)

For this example test Phrasee has recommended a split size of 37%.

TOC

Enter your split test percentage in the form, and then select the first subject line. ***NOTE*** don’t schedule the master email that has the campaign name. This is purely a master for system use. Only select versions that have a subject line to test. Lastly, select the date and time for your test send.

TOC

Now, complete the“check personalisation” window before clicking the “Launch Later” button.

This will confirm the date and time of the send and add the email to the scheduled emails for this campaign. Repeat these scheduling steps for each version of the email.

Scheduling final send

Scheduling final send

Once you have scheduled the split tests, you’re ready to set up your final send. To do this, select the “Final sending” option. When you select to automatically send the final version you’ll be presented with options of metrics for Emarsys to use when determining your winning subject line. Phrasee recommends using “the best open rate”. Once you’ve chosen your metric, click “Launch Later” and set the date and time for your final send. ***NOTE*** Remember to leave at least 4 hours for split testing between the start of your split tests and your final send time!

TOC

Once you have completed the scheduling you should have a scheduled email for each split test version, as well as your final send.

That’s it! Your campaign setup is complete. Phrasee will take it from here. We’ll automatically retrieve your split test results and include the winning subject line in your campaign’s final send. We’ll also retrieve the results of your final send 3 days after the campaign launch and send them to you to review.
