Overview
So you’ve decided to create a Phrasee-integrated campaign for Acoustic Campaign feature…
Just follow the steps outlined below, and you’ll be well on your way!
Integrating Phrasee’s awesome AI language generation tech into this process adds more subject line variants into Acoustic Campaign’s split testing protocols (Watson’s standard is four variants), and more variants means better performance data! ***NOTE*** In order to use this functionality you need to have followed our simple setup guide here.
The process follows the normal easy to use Phrasee language generation workflow, just with a few added inputs on step 1, like selecting your relevant email templates and suppression lists, and in step 4, like scheduling your tests in Acoustic Campaign.
Once that’s done, Phrasee will check the results of your split tests and schedule your final email based on your split test results at the times you specified in step 4.
Please take note: of the process Cancelling the send section of this document.
Campaign creation
Login to Phrasee (awesome!) and select “Create new campaign”
Create a campaign
Campaign names
All the emails created for this campaign will be saved in a folder with the campaign’s name in Acoustic Campaign’s “sent” folder. Campaign names must only contain letters, numbers, spaces and the following characters # ( ) _ ‘ . -. This is an Acoustic Campaign restriction.
***Remember that your campaign names can only include certain characters. Incorporating the date into the naming convention is a good way to avoid issues with this.***
Human control subject line
Enter your human subject line. This is the subject line you would have sent with your campaign if Phrasee wasn’t involved. All the normal functions can be entered here including %%personalization%%.
After you have completed all the fields in Step 1 click the “Go forth” button.
Segmentation
Clicking the “Go forth” button will display a reminder of the split testing experiment that was determined to be best suited to your audience and how the segmentation should be defined for this send.
If you’re happy with this, click on “Continue” to proceed to Step 2 of the campaign creation, and leave step 1 in the dust.
Campaign details
Step 2 will display all the questions that relate to your particular project / account and should be answered as described during your Phrasee on-boarding (remember that?)
After completing the campaign questions click the “Magic button”, then sit back as Phrasee generates your campaign’s awesome subject lines for testing. Once you have them proceed to Step 3, “Approve subject lines”
Approve subject lines
Are you happy with the awesome subject lines Phrasee’s AI has generated for you?
We hope that you are, but there may be some minor changes you’d like to make.
You can edit and comment on anything you aren’t 100% satisfied with. Don’t worry, the Phasee AI will make note of your feedback and use it when generating subject lines for you in the future.
Once you’re happy with your subject lines click “Accept and continue” this takes you to Step 4, “Final subject lines”.
Final subject lines
Step 4, “Final subject lines”. Now that your subject lines are ready to be tested, Step 4 will enable you to create and schedule the split test emails to be sent to the queries defined in the setup process, as well as your final email send.
Scheduling your emails
There are five questions you’ll need to answer before you complete the scheduling of your campaign.
1. Which email are you going to send?
Select or search for the template you want to use in the drop down menu. This drop down list is populated with all the shared templates currently in Acoustic Campaign.
2. Who do you want to leave off the list?
Select or search for the suppression lists to apply to your campaign, this list displays all shared suppression lists available in Acoustic Campaign. You can select multiple lists if you’d like.
3. When do you want to send out your split test emails?
Your split test send time is based on the date you selected back in Step 2, “Campaign Details”. You’ll need to keep in mind the time required between split test send and final send when setting this time. To determine your optimal split test send time, simply subtract the amount of time you want your splits to run from the exact time you want your final send to go out.
4. How long will you wait between sending your split test emails and sending your final send emails?
Phrasee suggests that you leave at least 4 hours for your split test email results to come in before sending your “final send” emails. However, If there are time constraints on the campaign then you can select a shorter wait time, and set your “final send” time for less that 4 hours.
5. What kind of send time optimisation do you want to use?
Send Time Optimisation functionality is an Acoustic Campaign function and has to be activated in the Acoustic Campaign in order to be changed from the standard “NONE”. Please refer to Acoustic Campaign Optimisation documentation for more information on this functionality.
Once you have selected the times and optimisation click “Push to IBM Watson”
Once your campaigns are successfully setup in Acoustic Campaign you will receive the message below. (this means you’ve done it right!)
You’ll also see your split test emails scheduled in Acoustic Campaign.
Congratulations! YOU ARE DONE! You can click “Save and exit”.
That’s it! Your campaign setup is complete. Phrasee will take it from here. We’ll automatically retrieve your split test results and include the winning subject line in your campaign’s final send. We’ll also retrieve the results of your final send 3 days after the campaign launch and send them to you to review.
Cancelling the send (oops!)
- Should there be any errors in the scheduling of the emails, or if you selected the wrong date or time for delivery, the following steps need to be followed.
- Login to your Acoustic Campaign account and unschedule all the emails that Phrasee created.
- If there was an error please contact Phrasee Support.
- If any of the scheduling settings were incorrect, click on “Edit and resubmit” this will take you back to the scheduling, allow you to make changes and push the campaigns to Acoustic Campaign again. This restarts the workflow as described above in scheduling. NB! You will still need to delete the previously incorrectly scheduled campaigns manually in Acoustic Campaign. Phrasee cannot reschedule or delete scheduled campaigns in Acoustic Campaign.
